Accessibility

Scope

This accessibility statement applies to the website valentina-marinkovic.de and all its subpages. I strive to make my website accessible in line with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG), which implements EU Directive 2019/882, and with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at conformance Level AA.

Conformance Status

This website is largely conformant with the requirements of WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Some individual content items are not yet fully accessible for the reasons described below.

The technical implementation includes, among other things:

  • a skip link to the main content, visible on keyboard focus
  • semantic HTML with clear ARIA landmarks (main, nav, section, article)
  • full keyboard operability with a clearly visible focus ring
  • contrast ratios compliant with WCAG AA (4.5:1 for text, 3:1 for icons and UI elements)
  • support for prefers-reduced-motion: animations and parallax effects are automatically reduced
  • alternative text for content-relevant images, empty alt attributes for purely decorative graphics
  • zoom up to 200 percent without loss of content or functionality
  • screen reader announcements on page changes via the NuxtRouteAnnouncer
  • multilingual delivery in German, English, Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian with correct lang attributes

Non-Accessible Content

Despite my efforts, there are areas that are not yet fully accessible:

Google Maps on the contact page. The map embedded on /kontakt is provided by a third party (Google). The markup inside the iframe is outside my control and cannot be fully operated by keyboard. As an equivalent alternative, the full office address is available as readable text on the same page. In addition, a text link opens the map directly in Google Maps in a new tab, where more accessible controls are available.

Decorative background images. Some sections deliberately use subtle background images with reduced opacity. These are marked as purely decorative with aria-hidden="true" and are not read out by assistive technologies. They carry no information and do not affect the legibility of the content.

Preparation of this Statement

This statement was prepared on 11 April 2026. It is based on a self-assessment carried out through an internal review against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, including tests with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and contrast measurement. The statement is reviewed regularly and updated whenever there are significant changes to the website.

If you notice any shortcomings in the accessibility of content on this website, I welcome your feedback. Please let me know which page is affected and which barrier you encountered. I will do my best to respond promptly.

Compatible Technologies

This website is compatible with current assistive technologies. It has been tested in particular with:

  • Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (current versions in each case)
  • Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (the two most recent major versions in each case)

For optimal display, I recommend using an up-to-date browser. Older browser versions may cause individual features or layouts to be rendered differently than intended.
